Brereton was awful last season when he had an extended run in the team. Dont tell me he had no one around him because he couldnt even do the basic stuff like control the ball when it came to him and hold it up. His body langauge when we were supposed to be scrapping for every point wasnt good so it would seem that we had a difficult character on our hands who wasnt really willing to fight for the cause. Contrast him with Cash and his attitude and its fairly clear to see why Cash is continuing to develop and Brereton has gone backwards. Cash gives his all every game no matter what. What many seem to be ignoring also is that there is every likelyhood that Brereton played a part in moving away and that it wasnt just a Karanka decision.
I dont know if its the same people calling for us to make progress up the league table and at the same time blood the youngsters to see if they are going to make it but to me it makes sense that if we are going to make progress, then we need to pick the best players we have available and not pick the players who we hope are going to progress eventually. Many of those who have the potential and attitude will go out on loan to hopefully develope and come back to us as better players. If they dont then they have to go. Those who are deemed to either have gone as far as they can or dodgy sttitude can go. If we get some money for them then better still. We are a club that will always have to wheel and deal especially at championship level. We just dont have the money to continually fork out not to mention FFP. This sales takes us well back within the limits and gives us scope come january and frees up space in the squad for hopefuilly an incoming transfer and a player who will impriove the first team, not just languish in the squad.
Now come on, lets forget BB and get on with supporting our team. Brereton's sales makes perfectly logical sense to me.
