In age group football, including at international level, Appiah has looked the business. In first team football he has not looked like he has an end product (since goal against Burton). He has terrific feet and good balance, but lacks explosive pace. Of course that could all change as he developed....but the money was on the table now.
Great deal for a reserve youngster I think. Especially as those who follow the age groups describe Alex Mighten as very similar type of player, but with genuine pace.
As always time will tell.
