I was basing it off the feeling that we wouldn't get a win from either of those games and so far that feeling is correct. If he still survives after we lose to Boro I give up.
On the assumption that Sniffs comments are correct on the EM thread, it is highly likely that EM has pulled the plug on funding the club, which means we don't have a pot to piss in, which means we probably can't afford to sack CH and his backroom squad, so it is looking likely he will still be here for sometime to come. I seriously hope i'm wrong though
I'd say that's actually a bit of a leap based on what Sniffer has said in the EM thread. Two weeks ago people (including Sniffer) were saying there was money to make signings if we wanted to use it and now a fortnight later we're skint? Also why would EM bother putting several new backroom staff members in position if he was just gonna cut funding a month or two later? Don't think that makes much sense.
Dunno why Hughton has kept his job, I expect internal politics at the club are far higher up on the likely reasons than cash flow though.
There was money to spend, we had 4.5m lined up for maja,
The Asian guy from the Belgium league would of cost at least 3m
Then nzola would of been 4m plus.. yes we only tried for them, but bids were mad so money was there.. not to forget maja was here but failed the medical, if there was a actual takeover going on then it would of been leaked, stuff like that always gets out.. ether from the domestic side or a abroad side.. I hope its true tho, a good change is needed
It makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you decided you was going to sell your house or your car, would you bother spending more money on it if it didnt need to be spent? Paying Hughton and his backroom staff off would be doing just that! It is easier for EM to keep Hughton and co in place so he doesnt have to pay them off. If a potential new owner did come in and wanted to get rid of Hughton and co, it would be the new owner(s) that would have to shell out.
Any money that was available was put aside for new players, which potentially have a resale value and there is the possibility of selling them on and getting some or all of that money back (unless the name is Carvalho but that is another story). paying off a sacked manager is a non returnable payment.
Filling vacant positions inside the club are not the same as playing/coaching staff as they do tend to remain in their jobs irrespective of manager or owner, with the exception of maybe the CEO. Dane MAY, im not saying he was, have been brought in to either negotiate with an American consortium, or was requested to be put in place subject to any potential deal. I don't know, I am just putting ideas out there. Moving Vrentzos back to Athens also makes perfect sense if there was something in it all.
