10 seconds before the half time whistle and we have a throw in.

The ball is in our hands.

And we let them score.

Absolute criminal.

Yep just basics . No excuse.

I was pulling my hair out (yes I still have some).

It's beyond basics stuff like that.

Even the word I used (criminal) is too soft a word.

Seems we are good at conceding just before half time. Criminal really and totally on the players imo

That first and third goal were shocking. I know I may get pelters but thought we stuck to our game plan for 45 minutes and did well. For the first time in ages we were compact and everyone working together to shit the opponent down.
Now I know I’ve said it before but Anderson was so bad today. MGW and Dominguez were giving him
Pelters throughout the second half. Think he needs a rest.
MGW goal and we were back in it. Then th
e keeper has a brain fart. Criminal. Also think he should save the first too. That’s on Dyche not putting sels back in. Absolutely shocking decision and at a time when we were starting to worry them. I was in the Villa end and they were getting restless. Hutchinson’s pass was poor but FFS we were so easy to counter.

Are we missing leadership?

That first goal should simply not happen, ever.

Just throw it down the line and get another throw or throw it down the line and keep hold of it for 10 seconds and it's half time.

Do they really need to be told that during play?

Dare I say we are missing Yates?

Aina took the throw and is rusty and has probably been out of the instructions of the Dyche % stuff. However, it was criminal the first nd third goal- the second was shite defending too. Neco has one game too many I think and was struggling all game against mcginn. I think it’s probably easier for emery but he made little teals in the game and is so tactically switched on. He moved to a box midfield and overloaded the centre of the pitch with the brilliant kamara and tilemns covering the full back areas and pushed both full backs high and wide. This pulled our players out of shape and took time for us to work out. The goal that we scored was a superb goal and shows that Bakwa has a good pass in him and MGW can finish.
Jesus looks spent though. Weird that Kali got on with his transfer imminent.

We 100% miss Yates.

So many players hiding or taking the easy option.

Bakwa, barring one run, was absolutely dreadful. Hutchinson is so lightweight he gets brushed aside like he’s not there. Jesus doesn’t look like he knows where the goal is. Murillo trying Hollywood passes when he can’t do a simple one five yards. Anderson looking like Remo Freuler. MGW anonymous barring the goal. Domi offering such little quality that his highlight was being able to tackle. Milenkovic allowing Watkins to shoot. Williams giving Cash way too much space, and John Victor proving everyone right with a complete headloss.

Oh, and the best until last, McAtee: the ball falls to him inside their box with three players to pick out but shepherds it out for a corner. He then takes the corner and doesn’t beat the first man. A boy playing a man’s game.

This group of players man. They twist my melon.

Genuine question to you, I respect we will all have different opinions on this but would a better manager get more out of this bunch or are most just not very good?
We had a run last year when some played above themselves and have now reverted to type and newbies aren’t good enough? Or can all do better?

It’s impossible to say whether a new manager would do any better, it’s all about right place, right time.

if you look at last season, some players didn’t even play above themselves for the whole season, just for parts. We tailed off badly from January onwards performance wise, with the odd exception.

I don’t think we recruited well in the Summer.  That doesn’t mean that I think we signed bad players. I just don’t think we signed the right players to fit our style albeit Nuno’s approach to last season was never sustainable and I’m not sure he knew how to fix that, which is partly why he self destructed.

I think we missed a trick not selling MGW in the Summer, he’s a good player but not the elite player people seem to think he is.

i am glad we didn’t back Nuno wholesale in the Summer because I don’t think he could repeat last seasons performance and I think we would have been lumbered with some overpaid deadwood (Nuno wanted Mangassa and he has looked appalling).

for me right now, we need to:

1. gamble on three teams being worse than us
2. back Sean now with two or three of his players (McNeil would have improved us today)
3. Decide now whether we spend our PSR buffer to ensure we stay up but know that it means that (1) Anderson is definitely gone in the Summer and (2) we won’t be able to add many players for 18 months
4. undertake a review of the Summer transfer window and how that fit within our short/medium/long term plans. I would really like to hear from the Club on this. For example why sign Kailumendo to let him leave six months later on loan

I’ll ask you a question in return (it was something we discussed today at the game). Should Ange have been given more time?

Apart from Elanga last seasons team is all still here so we know for sure that they can be so much better.

Question is why aren't they?

Because performance isn’t linear.

Forgot to mention that Aina looks like he’s put on some weight, not sure if it’s fat or muscle.

Has he put on some timber, or was it his shirt that made him look big?
