RE: The Summer Clearout - TheGreenMan - 14-03-2019

Regarding that keeper of ours last night was the last straw for me. Not gonna happen, but I’d get him straight on the plane back to Romania never mind waiting for the summer clear out.

to be fair to pants for the first goal, colback shouldnt have been beaten like that was disappointing. we never got a grip

Imagine the reaction if that would have been Osborn and not Colback?

Regarding Pants, I have been saying it all season...We need a new goalkeeper in the summer.

First goal he should definitely stopped. 2nd goal the shot was excellent but he really should be doing better in my book. 3rd goal i dont think he could have done much about.

It wasnt his best night's work. Ok every player has a bad game every now and then. BUT, this is not the first night he's had a bad night.

When the pressure cranks up he goes missing.

The one match you want Colback not to be beaten, it was last night.  Not many games we can say Colback was done for 1 possibly two of the goals.  But last night it seemed McGinn has the beating of him...at least for the first goal.

Shame, as Colback got the early goal.  And somehow our normally robust midfield couldn't cope.

But in truth, Villa, Stoke are on the receiving end of Premier money that has afforded them that extra bit of class and it's showed in our games vs both of them.  Regardless of the fact that Villa or Stoke are where they are in the league.

Not going to completely blame Pants for that.  It has to start higher up the pitch.

Well, yes.  The keeper is the last line of defence.  (Though I think Forest seemed 'off' the pace higher up the pitch.  After the 1st goal, Forest gradually lost it, Colback got done for the 1st goal and it seemed to stay that way for the rest of the match.)

We're not getting the 'Dave Beasant' flying saves that defy age and time from Pants.

Our recruitment was flawed in the Summer.  Not just for the keeper position, but up front...well, almost everywhere.  Lolley, Colback and Robinson were the stand out signings for me.

Pants is 'ok' and has (!) been better behind the new CHs and the re-tooled CM.

But we need to be trying harder with recruitment.  Goalkeeper, fullbacks, wingers(!), ACM and another striker.  There's enough there for another 7 players.

An interesting assessment on Colback when the pressure cranks up.  I'm sure it will be something MoN will be looking at going forward re: Summer recruitment.

RE: The Summer Clearout - Salvatore Matrecano - 14-03-2019

Errr, I think he was referring to Pants not Colback.

I still think Pants is OK, just not great. He did make one fantastic save last night in the first half, low to his right which looked a certain goal. However just before that he completely failed to go for a cross that lead to a free header which luckily went into the side netting. Yet again we have quantity over quality, 4 1st team goalkeepers but none are the top quality you need for promotion.

3rd goal, he should have intercepted it, it was a dangerous cross that defenders expect their keeper to bail them out and not remain stuck on his line. Crosses like those or are intercepted by the keeper or will end up in an own goal as the defender is facing his goal.

I had their third goal down as being as a result of an excellent delivery. It had pace and direction. The 2 CB's were static. I don't think you can put that one down to him to be honest.

RE: The Summer Clearout - the jock - 14-03-2019

Milo as a CB is ok, hes nothing exceptional either. hes not commanding like Mings.

I got the vibe that the CHs were down for one of the goals.  But, as Malta has pointed out...I think our issues started higher up the pitch...and the midfield just couldn't cope for the 1st half hour.
